Lesson Twenty: A Glorious Church Rooted In One New Man
TEXT: Ephes. 2:13 -
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood
of Christ. For he is our peace,
who hath
made the two (Jew and Gentile) one, and hath broken down the middle wall of
partition between us;
2 Chron. 36:23 - Thus saith Cyrus king of
Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord God of heaven given me;
and he hath charged me to build him an
house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people?
The Lord his God be with him, and let him go up.
Ephes. 1:10 - That in the dispensation of the
fullness of times he might gather
together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which
are on earth; even in him: When the wall of separation between Jew and Gentile comes down, the spiritual temple, God's dwelling place, will be restored and this ONE NEW MAN will release the GLORY and the POWER of Yeshua upon the EARTH. The revelations coming forth of the Bridegroom, Judge and King will be released as well in a fashion unprecedented in human history. Paul calls this "life from the dead."
Romans 11:15 - For if the casting away of them
be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life
from the dead?
The "tabernacle of David," as prophesied by Amos is a type of the One New Man Glorious congregation. This interesting teaching of the Old Covenant is a study in itself but we will address it briefly here:
Amos 9:11-12 - In that day will I raise up the
tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I
will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: [12] That
they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called
by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.
1 Chron. 16:37 - So he left there before the
ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the
ark continually, as every day's work required:
Think about it. The Gentiles were the missing link of the church at the time of the Jerusalem Council meeting of Acts 15. Who do you think is missing now? After Yeshuah died, the veil of the temple was torn in two (Matthew 27:51). Now nothing should separate us from intimacy with God. Yet, a middle wall of division (veil) has been set up between Jewish and non-Jewish believers (Gentiles). As a result the church has never really reached her destiny in CHRIST. CHRIST is the plumbline. HE IS THE ONE NEW MAN. Unity in itself will never bring about revival. It's only a UNITY that will bring both camps - Jew and Gentile - TO CHRIST and total faith in what He did for BOTH at the Cross! There is a veil yes between the Jews and Gentiles, and yes this writer believes that it hinders the church from achieving its full destiny in God to a degree. But greater than even this is the fact the church as a whole has lost connection with the HEAD, becoming disjointed through unbelief and religious spirits, and in essence lost its way. The apostasy of the last days is here friend. The only hope is for us to become an intercessory body once again as Israel's leadership became with the Tabernacle of David!
Moses saw God's glory but could not see His face:
Exodus 33:18-20 - And he said, I beseech thee,
show me thy glory. [19] And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before
thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious
to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. [20]
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and
live.
Exodus 40:35 - And Moses was not able to enter
into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the
glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
Psalm 102:13-16 - Thou shall arise, and have
mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor
her, yea, the set time, is come. [14] For thy servants take pleasure in
her stones, and favor the dust thereof. [15] So the heathen shall fear the name
of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. [16] When the Lord shall
build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. When the servants, the Jewish people, take pleasure (or return to) Israel, the Lord will build up Zion (Jerusalem). When the Lord builds up Zion, He will appear in glory. This prophecy was written for "the generation to come." In Hebrew that means "for the last generation." We are in such a time as that right now. We are in the most unique time in all of human history dating back to even Adam. We are already beginning to see the restoration of the Levitical order return to the church through worship and Davidic psalms and hymns. The Old Covenant glory is the former rain. When the former rain teams up with the latter rain, or the New Covenant glory, we will experience a move of God like the world has never seen.
Jerusalem means "CITY OF PEACE." One day soon Yeshuah will rule Jerusalem and the Word of the Lord will flow from that city to the whole world (Isaiah 2:1-4).
Isaiah 2:1-4
The devil and his crowd are doing everything possible to abort God's plan. The devil's WORST nightmare is the great harvest that will come when the Jewish branch is grafted back into the olive tree. It will cause the life of God EXPLODE into the world through the ONE NEW MAN (CHRIST) to dying humanity. FRIEND, that is why Satan is keeping the Gentiles and the Jews apart! He loves pushing his arrogant agenda through both at times with neither recognizing the need for the other. But soon, and very soon, the eyes of the blind are going to open and we ALL will worship Israel's Messiah and come to a full revelation of what He accomplished for both Jew and Gentile at the cross!
Everything is about to come full circle. The first people to get the Good News were the Jewish people, and they will also be the last to get the gospel too. God is about ready to move the Jew and Israel to center stage once again. We Gentiles can either get with that program or we can sit around and pout and have our building parties. That's what Gentiles do when we pout and get prideful - we build buildings instead of loving people. It is as though we are watching a video of church history in reverse. The closer we get to the return of the Messiah the more the Body will look like the first church and the focus of the world will be on the Jew of Israel. The restoration of the Jewish roots of the church is one of many things happening before our eyes that tell us the end of the church age is near! Becoming more Hebraic in nature and culture is not the issue when it concerns the One New Man! Becoming MORE CHRIST-LIKE is!
Two things will happen in the not too distant future. One, the world will continue to grow in its hate toward the Jewish people and what the Jewish people have. GREED has always been the root of every single Holocaust the Jewish people have ever faced going back to the days of Pharaoh. The Gentiles wanting what the Lord has blessed the Jewish people with is a root cause of bigotry and prejudice. Other nations will try to invade Israel at some point in the future for her wealth:
Ezekiel 38:11-13 - And thou shall say, I will
go up to the land of un walled villages; I will go to them that are at rest,
that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars
nor gates, [12] To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the
desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered
out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst
of the land. [13] Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the
young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast
thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take
away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?
Matthew 25:31-41 -
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him,
then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: [32] And before him shall be
gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd
divides his sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right
hand, but the goats on the left. [34] Then shall the King say unto them on his
right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world: [35] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me
meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[36] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison,
and ye came unto me. [37] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord,
when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? [38]
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? [39]
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? [40] And the King
shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done
it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. [41]
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed,
into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Sometimes the anointing and glory of God does not bring just blessing. Of course to hear the Western Church preach today that's all we seem to be in store for - blessing. For those who have Christ as their Lord of all, that anointing IS a blessing. But for those with lukewarm hearts and a prejudice in their heart for Israel - that anointing and glory will bring death. There will be two types of churches operating in these last days - the same type of churches Jesus addressed at PHILADELPHIA and at LAODICEA. Those of the church at PHILADELPHIA will have God's name written on their heads indicating "intimacy with God." They will be totally surrendered to God. They will have the key to David to unlock the heart of the Jew. The others in the church will be like Laodicea - rich, increased with GOODS (things) and feeling like they have need of nothing. That is a spirit that pervades more churches in the West than we would care to admit or address. But those churches and people will face judgment in the end. The Lord will vomit them out of His mouth. They will miss heaven. They will be cast into everlasting fire. They will be cursed. Strong words and no room for error to be understood there. Lukewarm Christians are not going to make heaven!
So our choices continue to be made clear in this hour. We can either serve Jesus wholeheartedly with a heart burning with love and passion and as a result of that passion love His fellow kinsman's - the Jewish people - or we can have calloused hearts and miss out on the greatest move of God YET to hit Planet Earth in her history!
If the healing revival of the 1950s could have ushered in the One New Man it would have happened. If the Messianic Jewish and Charismatic movements of the 1970s could have ushered in the One New Man, it would have happened. If the Word of Faith movement and world evangelism thrusts of the major mainline denominations (Southern Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian) in the 1980s could have ushered in the One New Man, it would have happened.
If the renewal and revival movements of the 1990s could have ushered it in, it would have happened! If the restoration of the five-fold ministry in the late 1990s would have done it, that too would have caused the One New Man to come to be. If the restoration of holiness and worship and all-night prayer and fasting could have ushered in the One New Man, it would have already happened. All of these movements were a piece of God's prophetic puzzle in this century but none of them on their own produced the world-wide revival spoken of in scripture. Even the tragic events of 9-11-2001 did not usher in revival. That fateful day caused Americans to become very patriotic and briefly turn their hearts to God. But neighbor, as we write this in 2006, the nation is back in the same spiritual state it was prior to 9-11, if not worse to be frank. But in spite of the gross darkness that is quickly enveloping the Earth, I believe with all my heart THERE IS A REVIVAL coming. It is not going to take on the shape or sounds of revivals in the past. In addition, the coming revival may not be found written about on the pages of Charisma magazine or Christianity Today. Most of what God does in the Earth today is done through people away from the limelight of "Churchwood," as I like to call it but in the small caves of life where all is gone except dependency on HIM and a still small voice that says, "it's time!" God help us ALL to hear that still small voice in the midst of so much church "business!"
On that note, the Jewish Prophet Ezekiel saw a "double" river coming forth from the TEMPLE (the bodies of the NT believers). He said this river would cause everything it touches to be made WHOLE. Sickness will not be able to exist in this double river. It will be so deep we will sink unless we are 100 dependent on God. Why does God call it a double-river? Ezekiel 37 says the breath of God will blow on the dead bones of the house of Israel and they will live. When revival hits the Jewish people, it will breathe life into the lukewarm Gentile church as well. (Romans 11:15).
Ezekiel 47:1-10
The double river is a picture of the unity of two rivers - THE JEW AND THE GENTILE, which make up the BODY OF CHRIST. The principle of double river unity is also illustrated in Ezekiel 37:19. The two sticks in the verse are identified as Israel (the Northern Kingdom) and Judah (the Southern Kingdom). The Lord said He would make these two sticks, "ONE STICK" in His hand. Even so the Lord will also make Jewish and Gentile believers one in Him, producing an anointing greater than the sum of the parts. Why? Because the blessings of God are upon the UNITY of the brethren- JEW AND GENTILE, ONE NEW MAN IN MESSIAH. The anointing rests on us being in unity with CHRIST first, then with each other! Oh, Praise God.
Psalm 133:1-3 - A Song of degrees of David. -
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
[2] It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the
beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; [3] As
the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for
there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
In the early congregations before the Church got swept away with religion instead of intimacy with its Jewish HEAD, Jew and Gentile lived together in love and unity. True, there is "neither Greek nor Jew," in Christ, but it also says there is neither "male or female" in Him either and friend my wife is as female as you can get and I am as male as you can get. THERE ARE DIFFERENCES in our makeup just as there are differences in the make up of the Jew and Gentile.
The fact that salvation comes through the Jews - that it is to be preached "first to the Jew" need not be an offense to anyone. Israel's surrounding Arab nations, for example, who have found it difficult to acknowledge Her identity, will only enter their destinies as they recognize Israel's MESSIAH and her claim to the LAND deeded to her by God. Ezekiel spoke of a time when "aliens" will be "native-born Israelites."
Ezekiel 47:22 - And it shall come to pass,
that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers
that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be
unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have
inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
The Gentile
church had a good thing going in the past. We had this unity with the Jewish
people until MEN started tinkering with the plan of God. We marred it when we
kept the Jewish scriptures but renounced our Jewish heritage. Then we demanded
the Jewish people to forsake their God-ordained, fulfilled-in-Messiah customs
and feasts and join in the often rooted-in-paganism Gentile culture. Jesus'
reference to "the times of the Gentiles" may have been tied into this very
thing. But we are entering into a different time in history. The pages have been
turned that are drawing us closer and closer to the return of the Messiah and we
must take advantage of every possible opportunity we can to witness and to LOVE
the Jewish people! They need it! They really do! They need the Gentiles to
become Isaiah 49 Christians and lick the dust off their feet and serve them in
HONOR and glory. No amount of love we as Gentiles can show the Jewish people
right now will be too much. No amount of intercession and prayer for Israel
during these troubled days will be too much. No amount of giving to Jewish
evangelism and outreach will be too much. When we get a heart for Israel, the
Jewish people and to see both Israel AND her people come to know their Messiah -
watch out, revival is near! When we experience a TRUE revival sent from heaven,
we then will be a GLORIOUS church.
