BURNING OF LEAVEN

THREE MATZOT – The Unity, Or “Three in One”

For the Seder, there are three matzot.  Each piece is in a separate pocket of the Unity Compartment.  It is made of one which represents the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

MIDDLE MATZAH REMOVED

The Leader removes the middle Matzah, which represents the Second Person of the Godhead, who came to earth in the form of a man.

MIDDLE MATZAH  BROKEN

The Leader breaks the middle Matzah into two unequal parts.  One part is wrapped in a white linen cloth.  This is similar to the Jewish burial custom.

HIDING THE BROKEN MATZAH

The largest part of this middle Matzah is “hidden” away and is called the Afikomen, which means “dessert”.

FINDING THE HIDDEN MATZAH

After the meal, the children search for the Afikomen and hold it until the Leader calls for it. Jewish and Gentile believers, likewise, have found the true Messiah, Jesus. The Second Person of the Godhead, whose body was broken for them, and can now say “We have found him of whom …the prophets, did write”  John 1:45 (KJV)

FATHER ASKS FOR AFIKOMEN

The leader calls for the Afikomen and rewards the one who found it.  Symbolic of the 30 pieces of silver paid to Judas for his betrayal of our Lord, Jesus.  The reward is usually paid at Shavuot, (meaning “Fiftieth”, as it comes 50 days after Pesach).  The gift of the Holy Spirit, called “The Promise of the Father,” is given to all those who believe in Yeshua as Messiah.

FATHER DISTRIBUTES AFIKOMEN

The hidden piece is unwrapped and distributed to everyone at the table as the last food to be eaten.  This symbolizing the believer’s communion with Messiah and recognizing His resurrection, and anticipating His glorious second coming.
