We want to welcome you to one of our newest, yet we believe most important sections on Spirit Journals. We have written this study in lesson form even though many of the lessons are written as messages from our heart and personal bible study. The cross of Christ is the central foundational stone of ALL doctrine. Many have made it just another doctrine but without a proper understanding of the Cross, the believer will never understand victory and the overcoming life Christ paid for with His blood. This section is one of our newer sections but one we plan to increase in size over the coming months and weeks. These are just some foundational lessons. There are many more to come. We pray these lessons will encourage you and more than that instruct you in a proper understanding of the believer's source of ALL victory in godliness and righteousness. The cross is the source of fallen man's deliverance and salvation. Most understand that.
Few however, understand, that when we come to Christ in faith, our faith needs to remain anchored in the cross for our walk in the Lord AFTER we get saved. Many turn to works for sanctification instead of keeping faith in the simple message of Christ. Paul warned us that the enemy would seek to draw us away from the simplicity of our Lord. It's a very subtle yet very dangerous tactic of the enemy to provide redeemed believers with alternate methods of victory. These methods may sound good, look good, and may be very religious in nature, but they will never bring true victory and deliverance in this struggle of faith. We are encouraged to "fight the good fight of faith," not "fight against sin." Sin was dealt with at Calvary and it's penalty and power were forever paid by our Lord's great sacrifice. The fight in these last days is where we have our faith anchored and where it stays anchored when the storm comes - which it always does no matter who you are or what office you may hold in the institutionalized church.
The greatest enemies of the cross will never be the alcoholics or the drug pushers. They will be the self-righteous and most conservative members of society who will always reject the cross on moral grounds and never on theological ones. In other words, religious people will reject the teaching of the cross - NOT because they don't mentally acquiesce to the cross's meaning, but their pride will keep them from admitting their utter need for Christ - even after they get saved.
I pray these lessons will give you some nuggets to pick up and run with in your personal bible study time.
May the Lord bless you and thanks for visiting Spirit Journals. It's getting late neighbor and it's harvest time.
A good portion of the material you will read in this study comes from portions of several articles from 1997-2004 from The Evangelist, printed by World Evangelism Press, Baton Rouge, LA. We will have a complete bibliography up soon to give credit where credit is due. The study lessons on here are not the articles but compilations of the articles along with our own personal devotional thoughts to assist you in your personal study of the Word of God.
