If you will notice however, it was not the
publicans or the harlots that rejected this light as much as it was the
self-righteous and the religious of Israel! In seeking to paraphrase Jesus words
to the Pharisees, one could say that the Lord declared; “You who claim to have
spiritual sight apart from Me are actually worse spiritually than this man who
was born blind physically but yet he now sees spiritually!” He pointed His
finger at them and literally “you are blind,” even though they saw with their
natural eyes. The blind leaders of the blind seized the moment and asked, “We
are not blind, are we?” to which Jesus responded, “If you were blind, you would
have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see’; your sin remains. Truly, truly, I say to
you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up
some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is a
shepherd of the sheep” (9:41-10:2). The original Greek text does not put a
break between the two narratives thus tying spiritual sight into the truth that
there is only ONE door into eternal life and that is through Christ. Hear what
this writer says to you today.

TEXT: John 10:7-10 - Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. [8] All
that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did
not hear them. [9] I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he
shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. [10] The
thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I
am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.
As we continue the theme this week of Jesus Christ as the door, one must understand that the message of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone is a constant reminder of man’s inability to save himself as well a message of the fact the CROSS is man’s only hope for eternal life and redemption. It is a message that Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone is able to make atonement for our sins and a message that there is only one way of salvation and a reminder that there is a future judgment against sin for all that reject Christ as the only door to salvation. Friend let me tell you this. There IS a life hereafter and the way one responds to Christ in this life determines where one spends eternity. There is little talk today of such in this modern atmosphere of seeker friendly religion in America but friend just because the church world has stop preaching the cross and eternity doesn’t mean eternity is not real nor does it mean man gets to heaven any other way except coming through the door of faith in Christ Jesus and Him Crucified! As we stated in great detail last week, this narrative in John 10 cannot be understood unless one understands what took place in the previous chapter concerning the man born blind. This individual mentioned by the beloved Apostle not only received physical sight, received such revelation about the Living Christ that his spiritual eyes were opened as well. As the Light of the Word, Jesus caused faith to sprout and grow in that man’s life. Despite this tremendous miracle, spiritually blind religious leaders hated the Son of God, and tried to extinguish His light. Religion always tries to extinguish TRUE light while promoting a false light that may look good on the surface but in fact put people in greater bondage and darkness. Jesus warned that one needs beware the “the LIGHT that be in you is darkness,” meaning it is possible for one to believe they are embracing the true light when in fact they are embracing demon spirits from the powers of darkness. What Christ said to those gathered around the day this man who was born blind was healed speaks to a generation today that knows very little of the true light of the gospel of the Cross of Christ! This generation has been raised – even in church circles – on the MTV, fast-food and image laden selfish culture of America instead of the self-less message of the true gospel. Jesus declared, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see; and that those who see may become blind” It is JUDGEMENT when we reject light. There is no remedy for such. Hear this writer. Neighbor, its one thing to sin, but it’s a whole different issue with greater gravity when we sin against LIGHT. Israel sinned against LIGHT and America is sinning against LIGHT. If you will notice however, it was not the publicans or the harlots that rejected this light as much as it was the self-righteous and the religious of Israel! In seeking to paraphrase Jesus words to the Pharisees, one could say that the Lord declared; “You who claim to have spiritual sight apart from Me are actually worse spiritually than this man who was born blind physically but yet he now sees spiritually!” He pointed His finger at them and literally “you are blind,” even though they saw with their natural eyes. The blind leaders of the blind seized the moment and asked, “We are not blind, are we?” to which Jesus responded, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see’; your sin remains. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep” (9:41-10:2). The original Greek text does not put a break between the two narratives thus tying spiritual sight into the truth that there is only ONE door into eternal life and that is through Christ. Hear what this writer says to you today. John 9:41-10:2 -Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. [10:1] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. [2] But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. These religious leaders claimed spiritual knowledge, yet they were completely blind in their utter rejection of the Son of God. They claimed to have sight, but were in effect worse than those like this man born blind. Their sin remained and they were condemned for all eternity. It never occurred to these religious leaders that they could be spiritually blind yet Jesus did not tell them they were spiritually blind. They came to this powerful conclusion and instead of repenting, they refused to act upon it and in turn responded to Christ in such hostility they eventually put Him on a cross. Let me tell you this. Religion always handles the truth in such a hostile manner. There has never been an instance in human history where those who are of the truth have been accepted by those who are not. The true gospel today is being rejected by those steeped in religion the same way the man born blind was excommunicated from the Pharisee’s religious circle. It is the same line being drawn in the sand today. Those who come through the true door and the true Shepherd will find eternal life; those who come any other way, are the same as a thief and a robber. Those who promote a false gospel proclaiming any false way other than Christ and the Cross are also thieves and robbers and will stand accountable to God for the blood of countless millions of souls that will miss eternity being led astray by another gospel, pointing to another Jesus, promoted by another spirit. This 10th chapter of John’s gospel is in this writer’s opinion one of the most important passages I feel in all the Word of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is the DOOR. My Lord, I feel the anointing of the Holy Spirit on those words. There is NO other way to God except one come through Christ. There is no other way to Christ except one come through repentance and faith in the Cross. It is through the door of the Lord’s sacrifice that we come into the very presence of God. When man fell in the garden the access into that presence was forever barred. When one beheld the Jewish temple and saw the beautiful sanctuary designed by God to be a picture of the heavenly temple, one could not help but know in their heart that the veil inside the Holy Place was in type a picture of the shut “door” between fallen man and God. When Jesus spoke in John 10 spoke of Himself being the “Door,” He was in essence saying that because of man’s sin, man was unable to come into the presence of God without being stricken dead just as the Priest of old would be stricken dead if he dared go behind the veil with sin in his life where the Holy of Holies was, the cherubim looking down on the Ark of the Covenant where lay the broken law, Aaron’s budded rod and the manna from the wilderness – all three pictures of not only Israel’s rebellion against God but all humanity’s as well! Jesus had told the Pharisees on a past occasion that they would “die in their sin,” and that they would not be able to come where He was going. However, because of what Christ did at the Cross, the door into the presence of God is now made available to all who will come to Christ in faith. Through the blood into the presence of God! Through the blood we now have access. Through the blood man does not stand any longer outside the commonwealth of Israel but we are now brought near. Matthew 27:50-51 - Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
When we say the “veil,” we mean of course the innermost veil next to the Holy of Holies. The author of Hebrews by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit interprets the suffering and death of Christ as the means by which believers enter the heavenly Holy of Holies. Hebrews 10:19-20 - Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which be hath consecrated for us, through the, veil, that is to say, his flesh At the exact moment that our Savior died (i.e. when the veil of His flesh was rent by death; when His soul was severed from His body) God ripped the curtain of the Holy of Holies in half symbolizing the fact that the wall between man and God put there because of our sin was not broken down. Paul called this wall in Ephesians the “wall of separation,” or ‘hostility.’ He has broken down every wall as the beautiful hymn goes. He IS our peace! Friend, there IS no peace outside man’s being reconciled to God through faith in the Cross.
Ephes. 2:13-22 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. [14] For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; [15] Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; [16] And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: [17] And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. [18] For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
The symbolic significance of the tearing of the inner curtain during the precise moment that our Lord died is powerful and without debate. Jesus and His completed work of redemption is the opened curtain, gate or door by which we enter into heaven and the special presence of God. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY FOR MAN TO DO SUCH OUTSIDE FAITH IN HIS COMPLETED WORK!
To understand how dramatic the rending of the inner veil was we need to know how magnificent a curtain was involved. The curtain before the Holy of Holies was “40 cubits (60 feet) long, and 20 (30 feet) wide, of the thickness of the palm of the hand, and wrought in 72 squares, which were joined together; and these Veils were so heavy, that, in the exaggerated language of the time, it needed 300 priests to manipulate each. If the Veil was at all such as is described in the Talmud, it could not have been rent in twain by a mere earthquake or the fall the lintel, although its composition in squares fastened together might explain, how the rent might be described in the gospels.” (Barnes)
Exodus 26:31 says that the curtain was beautifully embroidered with blue, scarlet and purple thread. It was to be designed with cherubim who likely represented angelic guardians who were shielding access to a thrice holy God. The purpose of the veil was to separate the special Shekinah presence of Jehovah from the people and even the regular priests who ministered in the temple. Only the high priest was permitted to enter the Holy of Holies behind the veil. This special entrance occurred only once each year on the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16:2ff; Num. 18:7; Heb. 9:7).
Numbers 18:7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Hebrews 9:7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
Leviticus 16:2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
On this day the high priest would pull back the edge of the curtain, take off the garments of beauty and glory, put on a white robe of linen, representing the fact that Jesus did not die on Calvary in “beauty” or “glory,” but entered into heaven in pure white righteousness so we who are sinful can be made “RIGHTEOUS” through HIS BLOOD! Glory to God.
The Great High Priest, which was in type a picture of the coming Messiah and Redeemer of all mankind who is Christ, entered the most holy place with the blood of sacrifice for himself and the people of Israel; then, he would sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before it. Under the old covenant administration the approach unto God was very restricted and this approach involved dread and fear. If any mistakes were made in the prescribed ritual whether intentional or not the person involved would be struck down by God. While the Day of Atonement pointed to Christ, the veil signified no admittance. The special approach to God was very rare and limited. To everyone (except the yearly approach by the high priest) the veil said “stay away; does not enter.”
The veil screams to a fallen race that God is holy and we are sinful and polluted. The veil symbolized that under the old covenant administration the way to God was not yet opened and there was not yet a freedom of access directly to Jehovah for all men. This point is clearly brought out by the author of Hebrews. “Now when these things had been thus prepared, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance; the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing” (9:6-8).
Hebrews 9:6-8 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. [7] But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: [8] The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
The Holy Spirit tells us that as long as that curtain remained in place men had no hope of immediate access to God.
Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
The rending of the veil must have been a shocking, frightening and awesome event to the priests who were ministering in the temple. The curtain was ripped asunder from the very top to the bottom symbolizing the fact that GOD HIMSELF ripped the veil from heaven to earth. Salvation didn’t originate from the earth to heaven but GOD who was rich in mercy brought salvation to ALL who will but believe. (Mt. 27:51; Mk. 15:38).
Luke gives us the added detail that it was torn right down the middle (Lk. 23:45).
Luke 23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
The fact that the curtain was torn from the top to the bottom proves that the tearing was supernatural. Normally, when a curtain grows old and wears from repeated use, it virtually always frays and tears at the bottom not at the top. Also, it would never tear right down the middle. The priests who were ministering in the temple knew that this was the hand of God. The noise from the quick tearing of such a large and thick curtain would have been exceedingly loud and startling. This tearing occurred at the time of the offering of the evening incense and would have been witnessed by the offering priest and those who assisted him. The Holy of Holies that was not to be seen by men or ordinary priests was opened. The curtain being rent right down the middle would have exposed the whole room to those officiating at the incense altar which was near the veil. The multitudes of people that were gathered outside of the temple would have heard the sound of a loud tear. They would have seen the shocked look upon the faces of the priests that ministered at the temple. Word would have spread rapidly through Jerusalem that the veil to the Holy of Holies had been torn from top to bottom right down the middle; what a sobering and mysterious sign from God. The Nazarene yields up His spirit and at that very instant the ears of the priests are pierced by the great veil of separation.
In the split veil God was saying something to Israel and the world about the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. While there may be secondary meanings or applications of this great event, the central or primary meaning is that the Redeemer has opened forever the approach to God. The sacrificing of animals pointed to the way but the blood of bulls and goats could NEVER redeem man. It was through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ that alone would be the actual, true and only way to God the Father.
As the great theologian Charles Wesley said concerning this renting of the veil and what it says to us today: “If you desire to approach God, the death of Christ is the way to him. If you want the nearest access and the closest communion that a creature can have with his God, behold, the sacrifice of Christ reveals the way to you. Jesus not only says, ‘I am the Way,’ but, rending the veil, He made the way. The veil of his flesh being rent, the way to God is made most clear to every believing soul…. He was not suffered by the Father to die not without a miracle to show that he had made a way for sinners to draw near to God.”
When the Savior offered Himself on the cross making atonement for sin He by the once for all sacrifice for sin made an access with boldness into the gracious presence of God. Without His perfect work, “the law and its curse were like cherubim and flaming sword that turned every way to keep sinners from drawing unto God.” And neighbor, without faith in His perfect work today sinners are STILL kept away from God. Without the shedding of blood there is NO remission of sin! What part of that do we not understand today in the modern church? What part of that does this group of moronic preachers coming out of godless seminaries don’t get that the ONLY WAY to God from time eternal since the first animal was slain in the garden of Eden is through the BLOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is this so hard to grasp and preach??
God tore asunder the veil to say to us today in dramatic, unmistakable language that He has accepted the perfect sacrifice of His Son and that sacrifice is the ONLY thing He accepts today as far as true salvation goes. All the impediments and obstacles that stood in our path, that made access to the presence of God have been removed by the redemptive work of the Mediator. The author of Hebrews even says that we enter the Holiest, a type of the presence of God in heaven, with boldness by the blood of Jesus.
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God; let us hold fast our profession. [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
This remarkable statement tells us the great privilege of the gospel, that in our salvation, our worship and our prayers we have a great liberty, boldness and confidence to enter into the favorable, loving presence of the Father because of Christ. The old covenant abounded with boundaries because Jesus had not yet shed His blood. There were boundaries around Mount Sinai so that the people would not come too close to God’s special presence and perish. There were boundaries with the tabernacle and temple. There was a boundary for Gentiles. There was a boundary for the non-priestly Jews. There was even a boundary for the regular priests. “Now this whole temple really was a great fort, a bulwark. The middle court also was separated from the rest by a stone wall; placards of warning threatened the death penalty against the unqualified who came too near it. Hence this veil became a world issue. Heathendom was kept away from it, and the people of Israel too in its common ranks were prohibited from passing through it.”
But with the death of Christ all believers, whether Jew or Gentile, whether minister or non-minister, have a right, title and liberty to directly approach God in heaven through Jesus. No longer is there a priestly hierarchy. No longer do men need the assistance of sinful, fallible, human priestly mediators. What a glorious and blessed privilege! The Savior superseded the old Levitical priesthood with its shadow rituals and its multiplicity of sacrifices by His once for all, all-sufficient sacrifice.
Also because of Jesus’ redemptive work we approach God without dread, fear, or terror in our minds. Believers have not received “the spirit of bondage unto fear, but the Spirit of the Son, whereby with holy boldness they cry, ‘Abba, Father; for ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty’ [2 Cor. 3:17].”
Only the precious blood of Christ could have achieved this. As Matthew Henry declared, “Confidence in an access unto God not built on, not resolved into the blood of Christ, is but a daring presumption, which God abhors.”
To seek access to God without going through the veil of faith in Jesus’ sacrificial death is not only futile and ineffectual but it is also sinful. It essentially says that Christ is not the only way of entering everlasting life. It says the blood of the Redeemer is unnecessary. It denies the necessity of the suffering and death of the Savior. It rejects the perfection and efficacy of Jesus’ sacrifice. Such people trample the cross of Christ underfoot as worthless. Our faith, trust and confidence must be directed to Jesus alone who was rent in His sacrifice and who alone is the door to the Father.
The rent veil is a proclamation of grace. The Mediator has conquered and has kept the law perfectly and has endured the curse and thus has thrown the gate to heaven wide open to all who will believe in Him. NO HUMAN MAN CAN BOAST OF THAT.
As we close this message today, let me discuss a few other things this rent veil proclaimed to not just Israel but us today.
First, the rent veil was was a sign of impending judgment upon the nation of Israel. The Jews’ rejection and murder of the Messiah was such a serious act of complete apostasy that it sealed the fate of their nation in A.D, 70. Following the mockery of Jesus regarding His ability to destroy the temple (Mk. 15:29; Mt. 27:40) the rending of the veil by God would have been interpreted by the Jews as an act of “divine vandalism,” yet in reality it showed the fact that Christ did indeed have power to destroy the temple. The death of Christ was a death blow to the rituals of Judaism in the sense that all efforts by ANY religion, be it Judaism or Islam or Catholicism, to earn and merit righteousness through works would be judged as futile and in essence be apostate.
While the tearing of the veil proclaimed grace to everyone throughout the world who would come to God through Jesus, it proclaimed judgment, disaster and death to those who had rejected the person and work of Christ. The Holy of Holies and the temple were the very heart of the Jewish nation. If the heart is destroyed the nation dies. The rending of the veil was a warning sign to the Jews that their only hope before God was to turn away from their apostate leaders toward Jesus of Nazareth.
Second, the rending of the veil signified that the whole Levitical system of types, shadows and ceremonies had been superseded and put to an end by Christ’s work. As one commentator put it, “God did not unhook the veil and carefully fold it up for use on another day; but, He violently ripped it in half.” With the death of the Savior, God had no use at all for the old typical system. If God tears asunder one of the most important features of the temple culture, then obviously all the secondary and minor features are put away also. Law could never redeem man under the Old Covenant and it sure don’t redeem man today under the New! The church world needs to get a grip on this message and realize that all our efforts to produce godliness in people through works and our stupid programs is an affront to the Finished Work of Christ.
Jesus Christ didn’t come and die and rip the veil of the heavenly temple from top to bottom so man could enter into the presence of God to be set free from sin so man could spend 3 days in a rehab center trying to get free from drugs. I have not dealt with the power of sin much in this journal but I need to mention it quickly here. Sin has such a power that man cannot save himself nor deliver himself! Only the power of God can set man free from drugs, alcohol and lust. We in the church tend to get a bit self-righteous and hold our nose when we see people fail. What we don’t realize is that people who are bound by drugs really do want to get free but they can’t. They can’t stop sinning because the POWERS of darkness are so powerful outside the power of Christ man is no match for them. The ONLY power on this earth and in heaven that sets man free is the power of the HOLY GHOST, the third person of the Godhead and in reality the power of the presence!
Third, the rending of the veil demonstrates that the special dwelling place of God is no longer restricted to one location but it is universal and open to ALL mankind. The death of Christ was typified in the Old Covenant as a lamb for a man, a provisionary promise, a lamb for a house, a lamb for a nation and because of what He did at the Cross became a LAMB FOR ALL! John declared “Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the SIN of the World.” The word “sin” there is significant meaning the power of the blood of the Lamb has broken “THE” sin or the sin nature in man that causes man to perform sinful acts.
John 1:28-29 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. [29] The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.
Under the Old Covenant, if a foreigner or stranger wanted to join themselves to the covenant people they would have to join themselves to Israel. Like Ruth they would have to move out of their own heathen nation to the land of Israel. But with Christ’s death and the resultant Pentecost, God moves outside the old veil and enters the entire world. In a sense the Holy of Holies and the temple go into all nations. “‘For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering; for My name shall be great among the nations,’ says the LORD of hosts” (Mal. 1:11).
The rending of the veil demonstrates that Jesus is the only way to the Father. If men are to have fellowship with God they must pass through the rent veil of the Savior’s sacrificial death. If you place your trust in the person and work of Christ the door to heaven stands wide open. You are free to enter because you have been washed by the Redeemer’s blood and clothed with His perfect righteousness. When you die, God says “Come up hither to the wedding feast of the Lamb. Enter beloved into My heavenly sanctuary to be forever in My loving presence.” But if you try to enter in by another way then you are without Christ, without the Father and without hope. You will die in your sins and the door to heaven will forever remain shut and locked to you.
We are called to “draw near with full assurance of faith.” And listen to me today as I calose. This calling is not just for those who are perfect but for those even with sin and failure in their life! The door is OPEN not for the righteous but for the SINNER who has been made righteous because of CHRIST. GLORY TO GOD. We are ALL sinners and as a result of the fall will always fail and have the bent to succumb to temptation. None is exempt from that in this race of life we call Christianity. But if we will come BOLDLY into the presence of God when we have sinned, the Word of God declares He is FAITHFUL and JUST to forgive us of ALL sin and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness!
Hear this writer friend. The veil is rent: access is free. Come boldly to the throne of grace. Jesus has made thee nigh, as nigh to God as even He Himself is. This rending of the veil signified, also, the removal of the separating sin. Sin is, after all, the great divider between God and man. That veil of blue and purple and fine twined linen could not really separate man from God: for He is, as to His omnipresence, not far from any one of us. Sin is a far more effectual wall of separation: it opens in abyss between the sinner and his Judge. Sin shuts out prayer, and praise, and every form of religious exercise. Sin makes God walk contrary to us, because we walk contrary to Him. Sin, by separating the soul from God, causes spiritual death, which is both the effect and the penalty of transgression. How can two walk together except they be agreed? How can a holy God have fellowship with unholy creatures? Shall justice dwell with injustice? Shall perfect purity abide with the abominations of evil? No, it cannot be. Our Lord Jesus Christ put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. He takes away the sin of the world, and so the veil is rent. By the shedding of His most precious blood we are cleansed from all sin, and that most gracious promise of the new covenant is fulfilled—"Their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." When sin is gone, the barrier is broken down, the unfathomable gulf is filled.
As Spurgeon proclaimed so long ago, “Pardon, which removes sin, and justification, which brings righteousness, make up a deed of clearance so real and so complete that nothing now divides the sinner from his reconciled God. 'The Judge is now the Father: He, who once must necessarily have condemned, is found justly absolving and accepting.”
If you’re going before a judge and you are guilty with no hope of reprieve it’s good to know your lawyer is the Judge’s Son! When we go into the presence of God through the blood we can be assured that the JUDGE will listen to HIS SON because “HE has given ALL things into His hand.” John 3:35-36 - The Father loves the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. [36] He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.
As we close today, let me make a plea to the sinner once more in the pages of this journal. Those who believe NOT on the SON and HIM ALONE, shall not enter into the presence of God one day when they die but the WRATH of God abides on him NOW and for all eternity. Today is the day of salvation; be saved today before it is too late. Repent, believe the gospel and enter boldly into the presence of a loving God because Jesus Christ as the DOOR into the presence of God has made access possible and He bids you come today into this glorious salvation. He loves you today and will forgive you of your sin if you will be believe and REPENT. As we stated already, repentance is more than just turning from what we do as much as it is repenting of who we are. It’s getting late neighbor, and it’s harvest time. Jesus Christ is the DOOR and the ONLY WAY into the presence of the Father. Praise God.
